Ask real estate investors what's the most difficult deal they ever did, and many will say it was the first one.
KREIA Past President Frank Miller, who spoke at last month's Main Meeting, likes to say this: "Stop being afraid about what could go wrong, and start being excited about what could go right!" That message rings true for KREIA's September Main Meeting.
Have you done your first deal yet? Have you made any offers?
We get it -- real estate investing can be scary at first. So many moving parts and so much money involved! And when you're starting out and don't know what you don't know ... it can be paralyzing. So it's tempting to stay in your safe place and read books and watch YouTube videos and take notes from the back of meetups and classes.
If this describes you, it's time to step outside your comfort zone. It's really not that scary!
In September we're bringing you three investors who conquered their fears, took action, and persevered -- and now are seeing massive rewards. And they want to tell you how they did it and pull you forward with them. Join them at KREIA's September 26th main meeting:
Jay Long. Jay is a KREIA Past President who says he started in real estate in the 1990s before he was old enough to buy beer. He began as a bird dog for Mark Lechner and Chris Dischinger, two local investing legends who went on to found LDG Development. Jay said he got $1k for every house he served up to those two, then he branched out on his own. Jay is a buy-and-hold guy with an impressive portfolio, and he's an authority on investing using an IRA.
Alisha Higgs. In four short years, Alisha has reached the point where, if she wanted to, she could quit her day job as an accountant. In four short years, she's put together a portfolio with enough cash flow to replace her W-2 income. So on this panel, she's the one who most recently conquered her fear and sailed over that first hurdle. Hear her story and follow in her footsteps!
Marcus Britton. Marcus got started investing in 2006, and now he does everything in real estate. With his company Red Door Investments, he's a landlord, a contractor, a builder, a rehabber, a mentor, and even a wholesaler. And he's known locally as a Section 8 authority. How did he get from there to here? Marcus will tell you!
And if you're already an old hand at investing, please show up to stand up and be counted as an example for our new investors to follow. Also, as you know, there's excellent networking, possible houses to acquire from the property pitches, and Woodhaven's buffet.
Join us on Sept. 26th and get inspired!
PSSSST! 4 special guests from the government are speaking: 2 from Kentucky's House of Representatives (landlord-friendly lawmakers Ryan Dotson and Susan Witten), and 2 from Louisville Landbank! Bring your questions!
