City officials have scheduled a public forum for Tuesday on how to deal with abandoned property and will be looking for people interested in reuse of those many rundown parcels scattered across Metro Louisville.
Louisville Metro Council president David Tandy, D-4th District, and the Louisville Vacant Property Campaign will sponsor the forum at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Kentucky Center for African American Heritage at 17th and Muhammad Ali.
The intent of the vacant property campaign is to find reuses for some of the boarded up and abandoned properties, turning as many of them as possible into livable and affordable housing.
"This forum will help people seize the opportunity to be on the ground floor of emerging neighborhoods by reusing vacant properties," Tandy said. "These properties can be rehabbed and made livable in many well established neighborhoods."
The forum will cover such topics as: insurance and financial issues, tax credits and how to select a property that is within a person's means.
